Jewish Philanthropy Conference

I just wanted to let you all know about something I have been working on lately with the AFP Foundation for Philanthropy.

AFP Inclusive Giving

On June 3rd, there will be a conference in Ottawa for members and non-members of AFP.  It is part of the new Inclusive Giving Project - Diversity to Inclusion Series which focuses on the interests of diverse communities in Ontario.  I have given some time to help put together the Jewish Philanthropy Conference

Participants will learn
  • Understand the giving trends and interests of the Jewish community
  • Build inclusive relationship-building strategies
  • Speak to critical issues and build strong cases for support within the Jewish community

    Street Food is a Success!

We are absolutely amazed by the outpouring of support the community showed for the new Food Trucks and Shepherds of Good Hope today!

The Street Food Showcase sold over 500 bracelets in 15 minutes making it a sold out event!

I also had the pleasure of meeting James Cunningham, host of Food Network Canada's popular show, Eat St.!

My sincere gratitude goes out to City of Ottawa and all of the Food Trucks for donating all of the food.  Proceeds went to Shepherds of Good Hope.

    Street Food Showcase!

I am so pleased that Shepherds of Good Hope has been chosen as the recipient for the proceeds from the Street Food Showcase on Wednesday, May 8!  It will be a fantastic event where everyone is welcome to try a sample of the amazing food that our new street food truck vendors have to offer.

Please come out and enjoy some great food for a great cause!  Here are the details:

City showcases what’s on the menu on Ottawa’s streets in 2013

Mayor Jim Watson and Community and Protective Services Chair, Councillor Mark Taylor will be joined by special guest, James Cunningham, host of the Food Network’s popular T.V. show Eat St., to present Ottawa’s Street Food Showcase at Ottawa City Hall. The event will display some of the 18 new cart and truck food vendors that will be located at various locations around the city.

By purchasing a $10 bracelet – available on first-come, first-serve – at the event, will allow individuals to sample selected menu items from some of the 18 new cart and truck food vendors. All proceeds will be donated to the Shepherds of Good Hope.

    Date: Wednesday, May 8, 2013
    Time: 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m

Location: Marion Dewar (Festival) Plaza at Ottawa City Hall
    110 Laurier Avenue West

The new 18 vendors are the result of the City launching its Street Vending Program, last fall. It was the first time since 1996 that the City has added new street vendor licensing.

Residents are encouraged to come out to support local businesses, assist a local charity, and tantalize their
    palates.

For more information on the Street Vendor Program, visit www.ottawa.ca

People attending the event can contribute $10 to the Shepherds of Good Hope to receive a bracelet that
will allow them sample some of the menu offerings of the new vendors. The Street Food Showcase will run
    between noon to 1:30 p.m.

The organizer of the event is the City of Ottawa.
