I just wanted to take this time to share with you a great article about one of our former clients, Tom Hogan.
I attended his funeral ceremony and was very touched. I am very lucky to have had the opportunity to get to know Tom through Shepherds of Good Hope.

Some of the chefs you can meet at A Taste for Hope!
Would you like to spend a
fantastic evening in the company of some of Ottawa’s finest chefs all in the
name of helping the homeless?
A Taste for Hope is an extraordinary culinary event in
celebration of Shepherds of Good Hope’s over 30 years of service to the most
vulnerable men and women in our community. Guests will have the opportunity to
sample dishes prepared by many talented local Ottawa chefs ranging from
signature creations to the exotic, as well as fine wines and local beers. All
proceeds from this showcase event will be used to serve the 1,600 men and women
that come through our doors every day.

Kyle Mortimer-Proulx, ZenKitchen

After graduating from Algonquin College's chef training program, Kyle began working as a cook at the Brookstreet Hotel, first under Chef Michael Blackie and later with Chef Clifford Lyness. He rose quickly through the ranks to become Sous-chef.
In 2012, Kyle left Brookstreet to become Chef de cuisine at ZenKitchen. Following Chef Caroline's departure in February, 2013, Kyle was named ZenKitchen Executive Chef.

Second Annual A Taste for Hope
Want a magical evening in the company of some of Ottawa’s finest chefs all in the name of helping the homeless?
How about a chic evening in Jean Pigott Hall at Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Ave. W. on February 26, 2014? Shepherds of Good Hope Foundation will be presenting our second annual A Taste for Hope – an extraordinary culinary event in celebration of Shepherds of Good Hope over 30 years of service to the most vulnerable men and women in our community.
You will enjoy the various sumptuous dishes prepared by many talented Ottawa chefs ranging from signature creations to the exotic, as well as fine wines and local beers. You can even participate in a live and silent auction. All proceeds from this showcase event will be used to care for the over 1600 people who come through our doors every day. For your enjoyment it will take place from 6:00 to 9:00 pm. Some of the chefs in attendance will be Chef Danny Mongeon from Hooch, Chef Luc Dorion from Patty Boland’s, Chef Marc Lepine from Atelier and Chef Neil Dewan from the British High Commissioner’s Residence.
Some very key sponsors have partnered with us for this event. BMO Harris Private Banking has returned for another year and are being joined by, Maxsys Recruitment, Alterna Savings and Trico Evolution as well as our many live and silent auction donors.

Kelly Funeral Home Annual Toiletries Drive
Wow! I am once again, beyond amazed by the generosity of this city! Today we sent our truck out to all of the Kelly Funeral Home locations. They do a toiletry drive each year to assist our clients with their most basic of needs such as razors, deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, etc.

Chili Cookoff 2014!
Last year, we had the very first Chili Cookoff for our clients. Members from each program would get together and cook a chili to enter the contest. Last year was a great time and this year was no different!
